Social Security retirement, disability and survivor benefits follow on Monday, August 3 for people who have been collecting since before May 1997, and then on Wednesday, August 12, Wednesday, August 19 and Wednesday, August 26 for everyone else, sorted by birth date. The catch: SSI recipients will receive no deposit at any point during August.

- Wednesday, August 12 — birthdays on the 1st through the 10th.
- Wednesday, August 19 — birthdays on the 11th through the 20th.
- Wednesday, August 26 — birthdays on the 21st through the 31st.
Why SSI recipients see nothing in August
SSI is normally paid on the 1st of each month, and when the 1st falls on a weekend or a federal holiday, the money is sent on the preceding business day. That single rule is what reshuffles the whole month.
The practical effect is that SSI beneficiaries collect two checks in July and none in August, with the next deposit arriving September 1. Es decir: nobody loses a payment, but anyone who pays rent or utilities in the first days of the month is working with money that landed five weeks earlier.
It is not a one-off, either. The same shift has already happened three times in 2026 — February’s payment arrived January 30, March’s on February 27, and November’s will be issued October 30 — leaving March, August and November without an SSI deposit.
Who is paid on August 3
The 3rd of the month is reserved for the oldest cohort in the system and for people enrolled in both programs at once. For those receiving SSI alongside a Social Security retirement, disability, family or survivor benefit, the two payments arrive separately: SSI on July 31 and the Social Security benefit on August 3.
August 3 is a Monday, so no adjustment applies this time.
