The deposit is not tied to your birthday: it goes to a specific group of beneficiaries who are paid on the third day of every month.

Election Day is not a federal holiday, so the date does not move. If you are not in this group, your money will come later in the month, following the usual Social Security payment calendar for November 2026. We explain who qualifies for Tuesday’s payment and what to do if it does not show up.

Who will receive a Social Security payment on November 3?

According to the SSA’s official schedule, the payment on the 3rd of the month goes to beneficiaries who meet at least one of these conditions:

They started receiving Social Security benefits before May 1997.

They receive both Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI).

Their Medicare premiums are paid by their state.

If one of these applies to you, your payment date stays on the 3rd no matter when you were born. It only moves when the 3rd falls on a weekend or a federal holiday. In November 2026 the 3rd is a regular Tuesday, so the money should arrive on time.

What about SSI recipients?

People who collect SSI alone will not get anything on Tuesday. Their November check already went out on Friday, October 30, because November 1 fell on a Sunday. If you missed that change, we covered it in detail in our article on the early SSI and VA payment of October 30.

That means SSI-only recipients will see no deposit at all during November. Their next payment arrives on Tuesday, December 1, followed by a second December deposit on Thursday, December 31, which will already include the 2027 raise.

How much will beneficiaries get?

The amount depends on each person’s work record and the age at which they claimed. November checks still reflect the 2.8% cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) applied in January 2026. According to the SSA, the average retired worker is getting about $2,095 a month before the next raise.

The 3.6% COLA for 2027 does not apply to this payment. For people paid on the 3rd, the first larger Social Security check, the one for January 2027, will actually land on Thursday, December 31: January 3 falls on a Sunday and Friday, January 1, is New Year’s Day. The SSA estimates the average retired worker will then receive about $2,170.

Who gets paid next in November?

The rest of November’s deposits follow the birthday system. Because Wednesday, November 11, is Veterans Day, the first birthday group is paid a day early:

Tuesday, November 10: birthdays between the 1st and the 10th.

Wednesday, November 18: birthdays between the 11th and the 20th.

Wednesday, November 25: birthdays between the 21st and the 31st.

You can read why the holiday changes the date in our guide to the Veterans Day Social Security payment on November 10.

What if the money doesn’t arrive on Tuesday?

Most beneficiaries are paid by direct deposit, so the money is usually available early in the morning. If it is not there, check with your bank first, since some institutions post federal deposits later in the day.

The SSA recommends waiting three additional mail days before reporting a missing paper check. After that, you can contact the agency at 1-800-772-1213 or sign in to your my Social Security account to confirm your payment details and your bank information.

The first Social Security deposit of November lands on Tuesday, the same day Americans head to the polls.
