Social Security pays tomorrow, Wednesday, October 21: these are the retirees and disability beneficiaries who will receive the money

Millions of retirees and disability beneficiaries will receive their Social Security payment tomorrow, Wednesday, October 21. The Social Security Administration (SSA) will deposit the money for those born between the 11th and the 20th of the month.

It is the third Wednesday of October and the second of the three payments that the SSA distributes according to the beneficiary’s birthday.

Who receives the money tomorrow

  • Retirees born between the 11th and the 20th who started receiving benefits after April 1997.
  • SSDI beneficiaries born on those days.
  • Spouses, children and survivors, according to the birthday of the worker on whose record the benefit is paid.

Who will have to wait

Those born between the 21st and the 31st will be paid next week, on Wednesday, October 28. SSI recipients will receive their November payment early, on Friday, October 30. Beneficiaries who are paid on the 3rd will receive the next deposit on Tuesday, November 3, as we explained in our article on the group paid on the 3rd.

The amount does not include the COLA yet

Tomorrow’s payment is calculated with the 2026 amounts. The 3.6% COLA will be applied to January 2027 benefits, so those born between the 11th and the 20th will see it on Wednesday, January 20. The average retirement check will then rise from $2,095 to $2,170, and the average SSDI check from $1,642 to $1,701.

When the money arrives

Direct deposits are usually available early in the morning, although each bank processes them at a different time. Beneficiaries with a Direct Express card receive the money on the same day. If the payment does not arrive, the SSA advises waiting three business days before calling.

The next payment for this group will be on Wednesday, November 18, according to the November 2026 calendar. Those born between the 1st and the 10th will be paid on Tuesday, November 10, because of Veterans Day.
