The Social Security Administration (SSA) will bring forward one of its November payments. Retirees, disability beneficiaries and survivors born between the 1st and the 10th of the month will receive their money on Tuesday, November 10, instead of the usual Wednesday.
The reason is that the second Wednesday of November is the 11th, which is Veterans Day, a federal holiday on which banks do not process payments.
The rule for holidays
When a Social Security payment date falls on a weekend or a federal holiday, the SSA deposits the money on the previous business day. It is the same rule that moved the SSI payment for November to Friday, October 30. Beneficiaries do not need to do anything: the bank or the Direct Express card will receive the money a day early.
Who is paid on Tuesday, November 10
- Retirees born between the 1st and the 10th who started receiving benefits after April 1997.
- SSDI beneficiaries born between the 1st and the 10th.
- Survivors and dependents, when the worker on whose record they are paid was born on those days.
The rest of the November calendar
- Tuesday, November 3 | beneficiaries since before May 1997 and those who receive SSI and Social Security.
- Wednesday, November 18 | birthdays from the 11th to the 20th.
- Wednesday, November 25 | birthdays from the 21st to the 31st.
All the dates, including the absence of SSI payments, are in our full calendar for November 2026.
Veterans who also receive Social Security
Many veterans receive both Social Security and compensation from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). VA disability compensation does not reduce Social Security retirement or SSDI benefits, although it does count as income for SSI. VA compensation is usually increased each year by the same percentage as the Social Security COLA, which is 3.6% for 2027.
The November 10 payment will still use the 2026 amounts. Before that, this week’s payment is on Wednesday, October 21, for those born between the 11th and the 20th, as we explained in our article about this week’s payment.
