The retirees and disability beneficiaries born between the 21st and the 31st will be the last to receive their Social Security payment in October. The Social Security Administration (SSA) will deposit the money on Wednesday, October 28, the fourth Wednesday of the month.
Before that, those born between the 11th and the 20th will receive their payment tomorrow, Wednesday, October 21, as we explained in our article on tomorrow’s payment.
Who is paid on October 28
- Retirees born between the 21st and the 31st who started receiving benefits after April 1997.
- SSDI beneficiaries born on those days.
- Survivors and dependents, according to the birthday of the worker.
The last payments of the month
After October 28, there will only be one more deposit in October: the SSI payment for November, which arrives on Friday, October 30, because November 1 falls on a Sunday. The dates are listed in our calendar for the rest of October.
Next dates for this group
- Wednesday, November 25 | November payment, the day before Thanksgiving.
- Wednesday, December 23 | December payment, two days before Christmas.
- Wednesday, January 27, 2027 | January payment, the first one with the 3.6% COLA.
This group is the last to see the increase, since its January payment arrives at the end of the month. The average retirement check will rise to $2,170 a month, as detailed in our article on the COLA for retirees.
Retirees who are about to claim
Those who are planning to retire should keep in mind that the first payment does not arrive in the same month in which they become eligible. We explained this in our article on the rule that delays the first payment. In addition, the payment day will depend on their birthday, so a retiree born on the 25th will always be paid on the fourth Wednesday.
