Social Security and SSI payments arrive early in November 2026

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients will receive their November check on Friday, Oct. 30, because Nov. 1 falls on a Sunday, according to the Social Security Administration (SSA) payment calendar. Regular Social Security benefits are also shifting: the first round of November payments will be deposited on Tuesday, Nov. 10, one day earlier than usual, since Veterans Day (Nov. 11) lands on a Wednesday this year. The other two November payment dates stay the same.

These changes affect a large share of the nearly 74 million people who collect Social Security benefits each month.

Why the dates are moving

SSI is normally paid on the first of each month. When that date falls on a weekend or a federal holiday, the SSA sends the money on the last business day before it. In other words, the November SSI payment is not extra money: it is simply the regular November check arriving a few days ahead of time.

That also means no SSI payment will go out during November itself. The next one is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 1, its normal date.

Regular Social Security benefits follow a different rule. They are paid on Wednesdays depending on the beneficiary’s birth date, so when a holiday falls on one of those Wednesdays, the deposit moves to the day before.

November 2026 Social Security payment schedule

Retirement, survivor and disability benefits will be paid on these dates:

  • Tuesday, Nov. 10: birthdays between the 1st and the 10th of the month.
  • Wednesday, Nov. 18: birthdays between the 11th and the 20th.
  • Wednesday, Nov. 25: birthdays between the 21st and the 31st.

Cabe recordar — as a reminder — the last regular Social Security payment for October will be sent on Wednesday, Oct. 28.

Upcoming SSI payment dates

According to the SSA calendar, the remaining SSI payments for 2026 are:

  1. Friday, Oct. 30: payment for November.
  2. Tuesday, Dec. 1: payment for December.
  3. Thursday, Dec. 31: payment for January 2027.

The January check is always sent early because New Year’s Day is a federal holiday, so it typically arrives on New Year’s Eve or the last business day of the year.

Why some people get three payments in a month

Beneficiaries who receive both SSI and Social Security will see three deposits in October and again in December. That happens because they get the regular SSI payment on the 1st, their Social Security benefit on its usual Wednesday, and then the following month’s SSI payment at the end of the month.

The extra deposit is an advance, not a bonus: it has to cover the following month’s expenses.

Financial experts often warn recipients to budget carefully during these months, since the «missing» payment will be felt in the next one — in this case, November for SSI-only recipients.

Where to get help

Beneficiaries with questions about their payment dates can check the official schedule on the SSA website or find their nearest local office through the agency’s online office locator at ssa.gov/locator.

With the 2027 cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) on the horizon, the SSA calendar will remain a key tool for retirees and people with disabilities planning their budgets heading into the new year.
